Hansel and Gretel was recorded and edited at the Escola de Imaxe e Son de A Coruña (EIS).
Through the compulsive ingestion of lollipops, this performance reflects on the role that family and society have controlling our bodies and our behaviours through food. At the same time, a set of sentences written on a blackboard reminds us of the instructions and common places we learned at school or through our games. A set of French texts were displayed using vinyl characters on the wall, and belonged to a previous work named “Les faux mots” (the false words) which had been previously shown in Madrid and Huesca in 1997. They all were false, but credible, sentences that patronized or made false assumptions about women found in our culture.
