Human Voice

english | castellano

Human Voice is a video-performance and it talks about the violence contained in language, about how words operate in the public sphere and about the limits of discourses built under imposed circumstances.
Taking a fragment of Miguel Cerceda’s book “El origin de la mujer sujeto” (The origin of the female subject) from 1996, a book which talks about different linguistic spaces and how these are gendered, this video opens an inquiry upon the female voice (which is not always ones own, and in many cases just responds to stereotyped forms of speech), and invites to think about a body-language merging. It talks about a need to re-materialize discourse seeking for an extended hybrid space, which can go beyond the non-critical hegemonic paradigms, but escaping from the empty silence derived from a-historical positions.
